Positive Life Radio Listeners Sponsor Water Filters for Poor Families
381 Filters Will Provide Safe Water and Help Reduce Disease
Nearly 1 billion people worldwide are drinking unsafe water, according to the World Health Organization. To help make a difference, Positive Life Radio listeners recently sponsored 381 Water-of-Life filters from Compassion International (www.compassion.com). These filters will provide pure, safe water to families in poverty in foreign countries.
“We take pure water for granted here in the United States,” says Kevin Krueger, general manager for Positive Life Radio. “It’s difficult to comprehend the reality that somewhere in the world a child younger than 5 years of age is dying of a water-related disease every 15 seconds. All told, more than 3.4 million people die of water-related diseases every year.”
Every fall, Positive Life Radio holds a fundraiser to help cover operating expenses. This year, the vision expanded. “Partnering with Compassion on the Water-of-Life filters was an incredible win-win, reminding us that we
can help both local ministries and international ministries,” Krueger says. “Once again, listeners displayed for us why we love living in the Inland Northwest. They continually step forward to make sure the ministry goes on so that God can continue to bless and change lives.”
“What a wonderful thing to see listeners help others in need—people they haven’t even met,” says Don Godman, morning host.
The water filters will be distributed to families in need over the next few months.
