Taking a break from his competition schedule, David Wagner is visiting his former hometown of Walla Walla Sept. 11-13. He is scheduled to make several local school presentations and speak at a public event on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at John Sager School in College Place.
While a WWU education student, Wagner completed his student teaching at Davis Elementary School in College Place. Wagner is also a Walla Walla High School graduate.
Wagner's visit is sponsored by the College Place School District, the district's Parent Teacher Association, an anonymous donor, and the GEAR UP program through Washington State University Tri-Cities.
Wagner is currently ranked the #1 Quad Singles and Doubles Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Player in the world. He is also a three-time Paralympic Gold Medalist (London, Beijing, Athens).
In November, Wagner will visit the WWU campus. He will speak for CommUnity, WWU's weekly campus service. The Nov. 19 event begins at 11 a.m. in the University Church.
