New Portland Residence Hall Dean Appointed
Riebe Returns to Home State
Annette Riebe has been named the new dean of the residence hall at Walla Walla University’s School of Nursing, Portland, Ore., campus as of July 1.
The Oregon native is excited to move back into her home state and take on her new leadership position at the Portland campus.
“My overall goal of serving as a dean is to create a positive living environment for the residents here, and to do whatever I can to enhance the academic success of the students,” Riebe states. She also wants to help promote a healthy, clean, close-knit environment for the students living in the Hansen Hall.
Riebe brings to her new job experience working at several other academies and colleges. She worked for a number of years as the registrar and education department chair at Newbury Park Adventist Academy. She has more than 25 years of deaning experience, including serving as associate dean of women at Pacific Union College, assistant dean of women at Loma Linda University’s La Sierra campus, and dean of girls at Wisconsin Academy.
With approximately 50 students under her care, Riebe plans to create a sense of community and provide fun activities for the students.
Riebe earned a bachelor of science in business education degree from WWU in 1980. Eight years later, she earned her master of arts degree in administration and leadership from Loma Linda University.
Riebe enjoys a variety of hobbies, such as knitting, traveling, cooking, and gardening and spending time with family and her husband Don. She has a twin sister who also lives in the Portland area.
“I’m looking forward to the new opportunities and meeting new people, while maintaining the program and continue the legacy of Hansen Hall,” Riebe says.
