Mountain Ash receives national recognition
named Crown Award Finalist by CSPA

The 2005 Mountain Ash has been named a Crown Award Finalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Nationwide, only 11 college yearbooks were selected this year.
The Crown Awards are among the nation’s highest awards for the collegiate press. The award reflects the overall excellence of the publication in the areas of design, photography, concept, coverage, and writing. They are determined by a panel of judges selected from the journalism and journalism education professions.
“I’m so lucky to have worked with such an outstanding team throughout this process,” says Mountain Ash editor Dennis Huynh. “It is rewarding to see an idea that you have believed in, and asked others to believe in, receive recognition.”
All finalists receive either a Silver or Gold Crown Award. Winners will be announced at CSPA’s 82nd Annual Scholastic Convention at Columbia University in March of this year.
Last year’s Mountain Ash staff included Huynh; Brandon Witzel, photography editor; Dallas Reedy, head layout designer; Liz Schultz, layout designer; Adam Farnsworth, DVD editor and designer; Amanda Clanton, advertising manager; Janelle Michaelis, story editor; and Summer Dietrich, Portland liaison.
