JumpStart Targeted to New Freshmen

Program Scheduled for Sept. 22-28

Dodgeball matches and other social activities give new students a chance to meet peers before school starts.

First-time freshmen have a opportunity to spend a week on campus before the school year starts, giving them time to settle into campus life before classes begin.

The program, called JumpStart, helps to eliminate some of the stress of entering college through a weeklong program that includes information sessions and social activities. The information session topics range from how to handle homework to money management and career planning.

So far, 260 students have enrolled in the program, which costs $200 to attend.

Although JumpStart is designed for first-time freshmen, transfer students are welcomed to enroll in the program. An orientation for students transferring with more than 36 credits will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, beginning at 9 a.m. in Chan Shun Pavilion room 154.

Students that attend the required number of information sessions will received one free academic credit, a savings of $607.

JumpStart is organized by the Academic Advisement office. To see a program schedule, or for more information, visit wallawalla.edu/jumpstart
