Happy Feet Ministry Team Travels the Northwest
Students Serve Churches and Academies

The Seventh-day Adventist church in Friday Harbor, Wash., was one of the stops for students involved spring quarter in the Happy Feet ministry.
Members of Walla Walla University’s Happy Feet ministry have had a busy spring quarter. Happy Feet, a student team sponsored by the Department of Marketing and Enrollment Services, the Chaplain’s Office, and Student Missions, travels to churches and academies in the Northwest to assist them with ministry.
Although the team’s name sounds like it might have originated from the popular animated movie, it actually comes from a Bible verse. Isaiah 52:7 reads, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”
One of the program coordinators, Macy McVay, sophomore theology and math major, says Happy Feet has been scheduled for five consecutive weekend programs this quarter. The team most recently went to the Connections Church in Yakima, Wash., where they participated in the church’s Sabbath worship service. In the afternoon, the team led out in an outreach program for the youth. “We went out, read a Bible verse, and chatted a little bit about it. Then we would go do a service activity. It was about connecting the head, heart, and hands in service,” says McVay.
Before that, they visited the Friday Harbor, Wash., church. This coming weekend, the team will travel to Upper Columbia Academy to conduct an entire Weekend of Worship.
Happy Feet invites WWU students who are interested to join them in ministry. The team welcomes a range of talents as well. “If a student has something that they want to do that they’re passionate about, and they contact us, we can make it happen,” McVay says.
