Biology Professor Featured on 3ABN
David Lindsey interviewed on new science and faith show
By: Becky St. Clair
In May, David Lindsey, professor of biology at WWU, was interviewed for a new program series on 3 Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN). The series is called "Bible Rx," and was coordinated by a good friend of Lindsey, Dr. James Marcum.
Marcum is a cardiologist with his own ministry called HeartWise Ministries. He has been a guest on numerous TV and radio programs, written two books, and currently writes a column for Vibrant Life Magazine.
In mid-January 2008, Lindsey went to Chattanooga, Tenn., to be a guest on two of Marcum’s "Bible Rx" programs. For the programs, Lindsey and Marcum discussed a variety of topics related to the interface between science and faith, and science and medicine, all from a Christian perspective.
While Lindsey was in Chattanooga, Marcum arranged for him to be on Life Talk Radio's most popular show, "Steve Gallimore Live." The show, entitled “Science and God,” was broadcast live on the Hope network and Life Talk Radio. It is available now as a podcast on the Life Talk Radio website.
Lindsey did the live show first. Having never done anything like that before, he was rather apprehensive.
“I had no idea what I would be asked,” says Lindsey. “And once the questions came, I found it difficult to answer challenging science and faith questions or complex science and health questions for non-scientists.”
Though it was a nerve-wracking experience at first, by the time he filmed his third show, Lindsey was a lot more comfortable, and had sincerely enjoyed the experience.
“I greatly respect Dr. Marcum’s approach to health and medicine,” says Lindsey, “and admire his work through HeartWise Ministries. It was a pleasure to help him with the 'Bible Rx' project.”
"Bible RX" debuted in fall 2008, and the initial response has been "very positive," says Marcum.
Lindsey's interviews on "Bible Rx" will air on 3ABN on January 13 at 7:30 p.m. EST, January 14 at 9 p.m. EST, and January 18 at 1 p.m. EST. They will then be repeated every 13 weeks.
