Award-Winning Journalist to Present for CommUnity and Colloquium
Claudia Rowe Will Speak on February 5
Award-winning journalist Claudia Rowe will present for CommUnity at the University Church on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m., as well as at 7 p.m. in room 154 of the Chan Shun Pavilion for a colloquium.
In her presentations, Rowe will discuss changes in journalism and explore important questions such as “Is the role of journalism to provide stories that we want to hear or news that we need to hear?” She will also discuss what can happen “when financial imperatives direct news judgment.”
A social issues journalist, Rowe covers serial murder, juvenile justice, same-sex marriage, and public education. She has written for The New York Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and is the recipient of many journalist honors, including the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism.
Rowe is on the roster of Humanities Washington’s Speakers Bureau, which sponsors “low-cost, high-quality public presentations across the state, encouraging audiences to think, learn and engage in conversation.”
She currently resides in Seattle.
