Rent is due on the first of the month and payable to the WWU Accounting office.

It is your responsibility to call Pacific Power (1-800-221-7070) or Columbia REA (509-526-4041) to arrange for the electricity to be charged to your name the first day of your tenancy (and Cascade Natural Gas at 1-888-522-1130 IF you are in a house). If you use Columbia REA, you will need to have a $110 deposit for them and fill out & return the application they send. This needs to be done by the date on your utilities list given at the time you sign your contract. PLEASE REMEMBER: Call the electric company when you move and cancel your service in order to not have to pay past the time you are living there! They will ask you to read the meter and give the number to them when you call. This will save you money!!!!

Phone Information

Be sure to call Qwest to set up your phone line if you so choose. Their number is 1-800-244-1111. Once you have your number be sure to share it with the office so we can get in touch with you in case of an emergency.

Laundry Rooms For Apartments

The laundry rooms are for your convenience. PLEASE leave them clean when you have finished with your laundry, and be sure to empty the lint tray of the dryers after each use.

Garbage Disposals

Use cold water when running garbage disposal, and do not run it for long periods of time. Let water run for approximately 20 seconds after you turn off the garbage disposal unit. Please do not cram it full all at once. Feed it a little at a time and do not put potato peels, carrot shavings, large cucumber peels, rocks, silverware, etc.. in the disposal There’s a re-set button on the disposal unit in case it doesn’t start. If this doesn’t fix the problem, please call the Housing Office & we will send someone to take care of it.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

There will come a time in every student’s life when it will be time to move on. When that time comes for you, we require 30 DAYS WRITTEN NOTICE of intent to vacate (Fill out Intent to Vacate Form).  If above policy is not met, fines may be given and prorated rent will be withheld. Tenant agrees to return all keys for said premises to the Housing Office at termination of this tenancy. Rent will be charged until all keys have been returned. (Please note that if office is closed when returning keys, you may place keys in an envelope with your name and address and drop envelop in mail-slot at the Housing Office)
