Welcome to Walla Walla University Athletics. I have been the Athletic Director and on the coaching staff at the university for 28 years. It has been an exciting time to watch the growth of our athletic program. We are fortunate to have a very supportive administration, faculty and staff, along with a great group of athletes. Walla Walla University is a four year Seventh-day Adventist liberal arts university. We currently are associate members of the NAIA, USCAA dual membership, and our Men’s Basketball Varsity Team is part of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference as well. The following quote sums up the goal of our athletic program:

Running in such a way as to win the prize.” 1 Cor. 9:24

We have had a lot of athletic successes in our program and you can read about that under each sport heading. But, even more important than athletic success is the goal of each athlete growing in his or her Christian walk. At Walla Walla University our goal is for each athlete to grow athletically, spiritually, academically and socially. As you look through our web page and select various teams, feel free to contact us. Prospective Athletes can fill out our Contact Form, or you can email us at wolves@wwc.edu with questions and comments or to get information on our booster club. Have a great time learning about Walla Walla University Athletics. And I hope that I get to meet you someday in person.

Tim Windemuth, WWU Athletic Director

The following is the purpose and goal of the Walla Walla University Athletic Program as taken form our athletic handbook:

PURPOSE

Athletic Policies must be understood and agreed to between the school and the student athlete. Participation in athletics is a privilege, not a right. The athlete must earn this privilege through dedication, desire, discipline and participation. Without the pursuit of those, the athlete can not do justice to himself or the school.

PROGRAM GOALS

Spiritual:

  1. To encourage students involved in the program to grow in their Christian experience and develop a willingness to share that relationship with others.
  2. To provide the opportunity to be an active witness on the Walla Walla University campus and to the community around us.

 Academic:

  1. The academic program must come first for any athlete on a WWU team. Practices are required; however, arrangements can be made to miss practice if an athlete needs to give additional time to classwork.
  2.  All participants in athletics will be full- time students in good standing at Walla Walla University and will maintain a minimum 12-hour course load and miss no more than three days a quarter due to athletic trips. Participating athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.3 to be eligible to travel or play games outside the Walla Walla Valley. Academic Administration will recommend that the athletes be excused from classes missed during the trips. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 must be maintained to participate in local games within the Walla Walla Valley. Any student who is on academic probation will not be allowed to participate in the WWU Athletic Program.

If an athlete is on a WWU team that is a member of the NCCAA they must be in compliance with all of the above regulations, as well as, the 12 hour rule and the 24 hour rule, as stated in the NCCAA handbook.

Athletic:

  1. To help each student reach their highest athletic potential as an individual and as a member of a team.
  2. To teach the values of sportsmanship, honesty, dependability, teamwork and selflessness.
