Men’s Basketball Hoping for a strong showing this weekend (Dec 3-5)

By: Taylor Lewis

Last Thursday, while most of you were enjoying Thanksgiving with your family, the Men’s Basketball team was in the gym practicing. The team had recently come back from a road trip to Seattle in which they faced off against two of their toughest opponents they’ve had this season. The Wolves had played hard against Central and Western Washington, but they still came up short in those games.

Last weekend, the Wolves played in the Lewis and Clark State tournament against Lewis and Clark State and Carrol College. Again, the Wolves worked hard, but things didn’t come together and they lost two more games. Despite the tough losses, the team is still optimistic. They understand what they need to do to get to a winning level.

Overall the season hasn’t been a total disaster for the Wolves. They’ve played competitively with almost everyone they’ve been matched up against, which is an improvement from recent years. The Wolves have also had solid performances from numerous players on the team. Josh Henderson and Tristan Greenidge are leading the team in scoring with 11 ppg a piece and Andrew Bailey is leading the team in rebounds at 6 per game.

This weekend, Walla Walla University is hosting a four team tournament. The Wolves have games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Despite the slow start to the season, the guys expect to do well in the tournament.
