Lady Wolves VS Northwest Indian 1-15, 16-2011

Every New Year we see thousands of individuals make goals for themselves. A study performed by the University of Washington publicized by CNN found that approximately 40 percent of individuals who stick to their resolutions did it in their first try. The rest of the population had to try multiple times before actually achieving it, of which 17 percent finally reach their goal after more than six attempts. Meaning unless you’re an over achiever persistence is the name of the game! Persistence is what will in the end translate into obtaining your goal. Having had a bone breaking start Walla Walla University Lady Wolves decided to start 2011, with a clean slate. Obtaining a new coach along with new players our Lady Wolves came back to set a rhythm in which to finish out the season. Having lost some strong players such as Nicke Parks, the Wolves obtained new players such as Katie Sulzle, Ellie Manley, and Janelle The to try to fill in the gaps that was left behind.
To demonstrate the new revitalized team the Wolves set out to get their first win at home after coming back from winter break. They displayed dominance that in the end would translate into a sound victory. Saturday night January 15, 2011 Walla Walla University Lady Wolves played Northwest Indian College. On what would turn out to be a double header the following morning January 16. Sierra King led the Lady Wolves with a mind blowing 33 points followed by Heather McFadden with 16 points. To emphasize what Sierra did take this into perspective, she seldom outscored Northwest Indian College by herself in the second quarter and that’s if you were to double the 14 points Northwest College had in the second half. Finalizing the game Lady Wolves beat Northwest Indian College 74-53.
On Sunday our Lady Wolves went out to try to repeat what had occurred the previous night. Having a short break of a few hours they went out to the court to take another win from Northwest College. The Wolves looked great finishing up the first quarter being down by only one as the score was 22-21. It was in the second half with approximately 5 minutes left to finish the game that somehow Northwest Indian College pulled ahead. A marker that in the end couldn’t be surpassed as the game finished 63-55, giving Northwest the win.
