Faculty Advising
All graduate students are advised by designated faculty members of the School of Education and Psychology. The dean will assign the student’s advisor during the first quarter of the student’s program. The advisor will be closely involved in the student’s program, including:
- helping in selection of the Program of Study
- helping in selection of thesis topic, chairperson, and committee members
- monitoring academic progress
- assisting the student in preparation for the comprehensive examinations
- assisting the student in issues of conflict, if necessary
- advocating for the student, if necessary
- helping the student with any questions or concerns
Students can change their advisor in consultation with the dean. Any change is encouraged to be made as early as possible in the student's academic program.
