WW Community Harvest needs HELP!

Walla Walla Community Harvest is a new gleaning program of Blue Mountain Action Council, created to support food assistance programs with fresh and local produce. We will be gathering extra or unmarketable produce from fields, gardens, orchards, and farmers markets to distribute to over 10 food banks and hot meal programs in the Walla Walla Valley.  1 in 5 people in Walla Walla County are food insecure or unsure of where their next meal will come from, many being seniors and children. Gleaning is a great way to reduce the waste of perfectly edible food and get it to those in need.  Spend some time outside this summer and help increase access of healthy produce to people in need in your community!

YOU can participate by:

Volunteering to help harvest                                    Donating your excess produce

Planting an extra row for the hungry                     Educating people about the need in your community

Volunteering in the Food Bank Garden                Telling your friends and family

Fill out this form to sign up for email updates and events:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGRZa3Y0MGIxZmxQNkRuNTRiblpEMkE6MQ.

For more information or questions contact Gleaning Coordinator, Casi Christensen at 509-529-4980 or casic@bmacww.org
