Dan Brendel

M.B.A.—
Dan Brendel comes to WWU from Boston, via California, after retiring from 25 years in clinical health care management. His dual Architecture/MBA degrees—taught in a 'learn by doing' environment—augmented a lifelong interest in efficient, effective 2D graphic and 3D spatial design solutions. His design and web classes are taught studio style to maximize students' peer collaboration as they develop a self-motivated and self-responsible work ethic. Emphasis is directed toward overcoming restrictive left-brain redundancy in favor of unlimited right-brain creativity.

Justin Lindsay

Graduating Senior—Walla Walla University
Justin Lindsay, current adjunct welding professor, first learned the skills required in welding at Auburn Adventist Academy. He later worked for Wilcox Farms as an Assistant Maintenance Mechanic and Welder. He began attending WWU in 2004 and soon became a lab assistant for Don Dawes in the welding courses. Upon Don's retirement, Justin was asked to take over as the welding instructor and he is well into his second year in that position. Justin is currently attending the WWU School of Engineering and plans to graduate March of 2009 with a B.S. Degree and a concentration in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working part time for Key Technology and hopes to find a manufacturing engineering position in a production facility in the hear future where he can use his hands on approach to improving manufacturing processes.

Justin enjoys the outdoors and open spaces of the Northwest and attributes his love for the outdoors to his late grandfather who took him on many outings to the mountains. He enjoys driving his 4x4 on various roads and trails during all seasons of the year. During his free time Justin enjoys tinkering on various mechanical projects for family and friends.

David Silva

M.S.W.—Walla Walla University—2000
Dave's formal education is varied. He has an M.S.W. from WWU in Social Work with Licensing in Chemical Dependency Counseling. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Personal Ministries from Atlantic Union College.

Prior to these degrees, Dave trained for employment in the machining and fabrication industry. He was employed as a power plant machinist for 13 years and carried a license as a Stationary Engineer for boilers. His certifications include Welding, Electrician, Instrumentation, and Rigging. As shop supervisor, Dave was in charge of all apprenticeships for State Certification in Welding, Machining, Electrician, Rigging, and Instrumentation.

Dave loves teaching for Walla Walla University in the Department of Technology. He says, "I don't golf and I can't afford to restore classic cars, so I come down here [the metals lab] to play!"

When Dave is not "playing" in the metals lab, he can be found out riding his '05 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy or simply hanging out with his great family—wife Deborah, son Ashley and daughters Judy, Samantha and Devin. He is also involved in our local animal rescue organization, SWAT.
