Aviation students enjoy the best of both worlds: dynamic learning in the classroom and thrilling exploration of the Walla Walla area skies.
Current students have the choice of flying in a multi-engine trainer, two complex single-engine commercial training aircraft, and five single-engine primary training aircraft. Students fly out of the Walla Walla University Flight Center at the Walla Walla Regional Airport.
Aviation students enjoy many great real-world experiences. An internship has been established that provides senior students with a commercial multi-engine license the opportunity to fly right seat in a King Air B200. The WWU Aviation program is also affiliated with the University Aviation Association (UAA) and the Council of Aviation Accreditation (CAA), which allows students to be involved with the top professionals from academia and industry.
There are changes happening in the Aviation program as well. New A&P courses will be added in the future thanks to the addition of David Muth, Aviation's new aircraft maintenance director. And serious fundraising is underway to purchase four Cessna 172s, a Piper Seminole, a cutting-edge Flight Training Device, and to build and equip an aircraft maintenance shop.
