How to Distinguish from Similar Species:Alcyonidium gelatinosum has similar texture but is encrusting. Flustrellidra corniculata is erect but has many forked spines.
Geographical Range: Alaska to (central BC)--apparently plus the San Juan Islands.
Depth Range: Subtidal
