WWU Alumnus Presents “Thinking Outside the Bun”

Chaplain Rob Mohr

Walla Walla University welcomes Chaplain Rob Mohr to present “Thinking Outside the Bun” for the CommUnity program on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. in the University Church. All students, faculty and staff, as well as the general public are welcome to attend this event.

Since 2010, Mohr has served the Air National Guard 163d Reconnaissance Wing as Chaplain. As the basic chaplain of the unit, he is charged with meeting the religious needs of any soldier who desires this support.

“I have always admired the military for its dedication to serving this nation and defending our country’s way of life,” Mohr says, regarding his position as an Air National Guard chaplain. “So it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve beside you now.”

Mohr attended several Adventist universities, including Southern Adventist University, Andrews University, and Walla Walla University. During his time at WWU, he worked with Troy Fitzgerald at the University Church, who encouraged him to pursue a career in ministry. Mohr went on to complete his graduate studies at Andrews Theological Seminary after he graduated from WWU in 2001.

After completing seminary, he was hired by the Upper Columbia Conference to pastor the Hermiston/Heppner district in Hermiston, Ore., under Pastor Steve Huey. During their time in Oregon, Mohr and his wife welcomed their first son, Braydon, in October 2004. It was here in Hermiston that he discovered that he especially enjoyed pastoring elementary and junior high kids.

Mohr has also served at Loma Linda University Church as a junior high pastor.
