Steps of Paul in Greece Tour 2014
Experience the wonder of Greece by traveling with Dr. Carl Cosaert and a small group of fellow believers on a once in a lifetime trip to Greece from July 7-17, 2014.
Greece is a country with a very rich history and the homeland of many famous personalities throughout centuries. The rugged hills and fertile plans of Greece was the birthplace of democracy during the Golden Age of Athens in the 5th Century B.C. Its values and ideals were carried across the ancient world by Alexander the Great. The influence of the Greek culture and language even led to the translation of the Hebrew Scriptures into the Greek language. But of even more significance is the role Greece played in the ministry of the apostle Paul. Directed by God in a vision to take the gospel to Greece, Paul traveled throughout Greece founding churches in Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, Athens, and Corinth. Paul's missionary activities in Greece are not only recounted in the Acts of the Apostles, but they are also told in more detail in the letters Paul wrote to the churches in Philippi, Thessalonica, and Corinth.
On this tour we will visit each of the churches Paul established in Greece. Some of the highlights include, visiting Philippi (where Paul met Lydia), Thessalonica (the recipients of two of Paul's letters), Berea, Athens (the famed Mars Hill), and the amazing ruins of ancient Corinth. In addition to focusing on Paul's ministry in these cities, we will visit the famed sites of Delphi, Meteora (home of the spectacular monasteries "suspended in the air"), and ancient Mycenae (the home of the Greeks who attacked ancient Troy).
A study tour like this is a once in a lifetime event. No course on the Bible, no study of geography, and no history book can ever give more insight into the Bible and its message than a personal trip to the Mediterranean world itself. It gives you the chance to hear, feel, smell, and experience the lands where Jesus walked and the Christian faith first caught fire and spread around the world. As many people have told me before, it will really make your reading of the Bible come alive.
The total cost for this 11 day study tour is ONLY $2,375. The price includes: accommodations in 4 star hotels in Greece, breakfast and supper, a private a/c motor-coach, entrance fees to all schedule sites, all guide and bus driver tips, lunch on Sabbath, and a domestic flight from Athens to Thessaloniki. Note: The cost of the tour is based on a minimum of 25 participants and double occupancy.
The tour will be hosted by Dr. Carl P. Cosaert, professor of Biblical Studies at Walla Walla University. In addition to the daily devotions and Biblical insights from an Adventist perspective that Dr. Cosaert will share with the group, we will also be joined by a local English-speaking Greek guide.
All you need is a plane ticket and a little extra money for a few lunches and souvenirs! Let me assure you, there is no better way to experience a different culture and grow in your knowledge of the Bible and your faith than on a trip like this with fellow believers! This is a chance of a lifetime.
Make sure you read the testimonials about other recent trips hosted by Dr. Cosaert.
