with national advising award

Dr. Tamara Randolph

Tamara Randolph, assistant professor of education at Walla Walla College, has been selected as an Outstanding New Advisor Certificate of Merit recipient in the Faculty Academic Advising category from the National Academic Advising Association as part of the 2005 National Awards Program for Academic Advising.

This award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as an advisor for three or fewer years. The Faculty Academic Advising category includes individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spend a portion of their time providing academic advising services to students.

Randolph is one of two faculty advisors nationwide honored with this award this year.

“I have never worked with a professor who invests as much time, energy, care and personal concern in her advising as does Dr. Randolph,” said Dr. Mark Haynal, dean of the School of Education and Psychology at Walla Walla College. “She is nearly always available to the students, encouraging them and helping them believe they can succeed. Dr. Randolph makes her advisees feel like the time they spend together is the most important thing happening on campus.”

Each year since 1983, NACADA has honored individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. The goal of NACADA is to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to enhance the educational development of students.

Randolph will be honored and presented with this award in Las Vegas, Nev. during the annual NACADA National Conference in October.
