Walla Walla Valley Colleges Partner for Event
Walla Walla University is joining Walla Walla’s Whitman College and Walla Walla Community College in participating for the first time in Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov.18-24).
Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrates innovation among entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses. It aims to inspire creative thinkers and to connect them to mentors, collaborators and investors in order to develop their ideas into creative business solutions.
While each institution will host its own series of events designed to encourage entrepreneurship in the local community, the flagship event is the Pain in the Glass contest. The contest asked budding entrepreneurs to solve a community-wide issue of glass recycling through creative entrepreneurism. The winner of the contest will be announced on Nov. 19 at a reception at Whitman College.
“The Walla Walla community is a tight-knit one, and we are excited to be able to engage with a local issue through Global Entrepreneurship Week,” said Whitman College’s Director for Business Engagement Kimberly Rolfe. “Creative thinking is key to entrepreneurship, and we are optimistic that both Whitman’s and our neighboring institutions’ students will produce some great entrepreneurial solutions in our Pain in the Glass contest.”
