Book Signing Takes Place May 9

The new book, intended primarily for non-Adventist readers, is the culmination of a 7-year project.

Walla Walla Adventist Forum presents Terrie Aamodt, a Walla Walla University professor of history, who will host a presentation introducing and discussing her new book Ellen Harmon White: American Prophet.

Aamodt serves as a co-editor for this biography and was also a chapter author. She will share her experiences of this 7-year collaborative project on Sabbath, May 10, at 4 p.m. in the Melvin K. West Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

The day before her presentation, Aamodt will sign books at the University Bookstore on Friday, May 9, from noon to 1 p.m. The book will be available for $28, a 25% discount from the regular price.

Aamodt worked with 20 scholars to complete this monumental project, published by Oxford University Press. This new biography about Ellen Gould Harmon White (1827-1915), co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, contains 400 pages of the first comprehensive scholarly compilation of her life, career, and cultural context. It also measures White’s contribution to the development of Adventist theology, analyzes context of White’s published spiritual advice letters and testimonies, and provides the most comprehensive assessment of biographers’ and historians’ response to White.

Adventist Forum is an independent organization whose mission is to "foster community through conversation and a renewal of genuine Adventism that impacts the world for Jesus. Prompted by the grace and peace of Jesus, we will embrace a commitment to spiritual purpose, engage in thoughtful conversation, and champion a renewal that encourages effective and faithful service."
