Community Music Lessons

The Department of Music at Walla Walla University has developed a program for community members to enroll in music lessons with university music students. The program is designed to provide excellent musical training to pupils of all ages from the community while providing university students with valuable teaching experience. The university students who teach in the program are supervised by their own teachers with whom they take lessons at the university.

The program began in 2013-14, and new students may still enroll for lessons in the spring quarter of 2014. The program is anticipated to be in full operation by 2014-15. The availability of teachers may vary, but lessons are most likely available in the following areas: piano, violin, and cello. Inquiries regarding the availaibility of teachers of other instruments or voice are welcome.

The rates for lessons are based on nine lessons per quarter, and payment may be made online or through the music office in the Melvin K. West Fine Arts Center. Because we are in the initial stages of implementing this progam, please contact us regarding your potential interest and the availability of lessons in a given performance area by calling 509-527-2561 or sending an email to Or you may simply complete the application form and mail it to us in the music department. You may read and print the lesson policy information and payment instructions here as well.

We look forward to welcoming music students from the community to our program, and we hope the program will grow to become a thriving collaboration between our music students and our community.
