Community Music Lessons

The Department of Music at Walla Walla University has developed a program for community members to enroll in music lessons with university music students. The program is designed to provide excellent musical training to pupils of all ages from the community while providing university students with valuable teaching experience. The university students who teach in the program are supervised by their own teachers with whom they take lessons at the university.

The program began in 2013-14, and new students may now enroll in lessons for the 2014-15 school year. The availability of teachers may vary, but lessons currently are available in the following areas:

  • piano
  • violin
  • voice

Inquiries regarding the availability of teachers of other instruments are welcome.

The rates for lessons are based on nine lessons per quarter, and payment may be made online or through the music office in the Melvin K. West Fine Arts Center. The rates are as follows:

  • $150 quarterly for nine 30-minute lessons
  • $200 quarterly for nine 45-minute lessons
  • $245 quarterly for nine 1-hour lessons

Because we are in the initial stages of implementing this program, please contact us regarding your potential interest and the availability of lessons in a given performance area by calling 509-527-2563 or by sending an email to music@wallawalla.edu. Or you may simply complete and submit the application and lesson policy forms as instructed below:

We look forward to welcoming music students from the community to our program, and we hope the program will grow to become a thriving collaboration between our music students and our community.
