Young Writers' Conference
Young writers from NPUC academies and junior academies won places at our annual Young Writer’s Conference held March 2-4, 2012. This year the theme was short stories.
Friday evening activities included supper, worship, and introductions. After Sabbath School and church, students enjoyed Sabbath dinner and a tour of Whitman Mission led by Dr. Terrie Aamodt. Saturday evening, students were treated to one-act plays directed and performed by WWU drama students at Village Hall.
Sunday was work day. After a delicious breakfast, Dan Lamberton and selected WWU students led workshops on narrative short story writing.
Our 2014 conference is titled Teaching Young Writers and is specifically designed for secondary English teachers. All 9th-12th grade English teachers in the NPUC are invited to apply for one of the 25 openings.
Plans are already in the making for our 2015 Young Writers’ Conference, which will focus on poetry.
Information about our March 6-8, 2015, Young Writers’ Conference will be distributed to principals and English teachers in NPUC academies and junior academies. We hope that this special session will be a great time of learning and inspiration and bring a number of academy students to Walla Walla University in March.
