The School of Education and Psychology offers thesis and non-thesis Master of Arts degrees in counseling psychology. Our program is designed to promote clinical, theoretical, academic, and personal growth through study, supervision, and service. Students are expected to attain a broad range of competence in the core areas in counseling psychology including human development and learning, individual and group counseling, career development, assessment, ethics, research, and statistics. Faculty present core principles, core processes, and a variety of methods for working with emotion, cognition, behavior, and interpersonal and systemic factors. Students acquire a range of clinical skills they can use with diverse clients and learn to apply theory to practice through supervised practica and internship experiences. Since a significant link exists between one’s personal and professional life, our training program is designed to help students master not only the technical aspects of treatment, but also the personal.
