Walla Walla University offers additional endorsements via a Pathway 2 Assessment to contracted teachers who hold an endorsement similar to the desired endorsement as defined by Washington State; who have completed a minimum of 90 days’ of teaching experience in the similar endorsement currently held; and who hold a position as a contracted teacher or long-term substitute teacher in a Washington State school district or state-approved private school. Upon determination of candidate eligibility each candidate will follow the below outlined plan.
- Take and pass the WEST-E test for the desired endorsement.
- Be familiar with the Washington State Pedagogy Assessment Instrument (PPA) and/or contact Walla Walla University supervisor for PPA materials.
- Complete and submit to Walla Walla University Certification Officer the WA State Pathway 2 Pedagogy Assessment/Employer Support Verification form and all required Walla Walla University application materials and fees.
- Be observed by a Walla Walla University content expert using the Performance-based Pedagogy Assessment instrument (PPA) in 2-4 observations. You must successfully meet the criteria on the assessment to be certified. If you do not meet standard, a plan of improvement will need to be made, and additional fees for additional observation may apply.
Upon successful completion, the endorsement earned via the Pathway 2 Assessment will be added to the reissued teaching certificate.
Approximate Cost: $1650 (application=$210; Pedagogy Assessment expense=$1425--may vary according to travel distance; endorsement certification fee $15), plus PRAXIS/WEST-E exam fee.
Geographic area(s) served: There are no designated regions; Special arrangements will be made through the School of Education & Psychology personnel. Travel expenses are paid by each candidate according to the distance a Walla Walla University designated supervisor must travel, see above Pedagogy Assessment expense.
