Monty Knittel joined the Walla Walla University Board of Trustees in 2011. Monty has a Bachelor of Arts in theology from Pacific Union College, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Montana.
Knittel has close ties to WWU. He taught business administration for two years, before moving to Portland, Ore. to work as the vice president of business development and marketing at Adventist Medical Center. His wife, Patty, graduated from WWU in 1979 and is currently the secretary for the School of Nursing.
Knittel is the president and chief executive of Walla Walla General Hospital, and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also serves on the Upper Columbia Conference Executive Committee. Currently, he is board chair of the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce.
He and Patty have two children, Jason, who graduated from WWU in 2010, and Ashley.
In his leisure time, he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and playing the banjo. He especially enjoys jazz, rock, classical, blues, and bluegrass music.
