Dennis Barts

Dennis Barts joined the Walla Walla University Board of Trustees in 2011.  Barts received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Andrews University, and then went to Iowa State University for a master’s in education with a concentration in exercise physiology.  In 1994, he received a master’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University.  

Barts is currently the chief executive officer of Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley, Wash., and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. 

Barts is also very active in his community, serving on the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Rockwood Clinic Board of Directors. 

When he isn’t studying history, Barts enjoys outdoor activities.  He likes cycling, skiing, kayaking, snowboarding, and hiking. 

In 1972, Barts married Becky, who currently serves as the Upper Columbia Conference associate educational superintendent.  Barts and Becky are the parents of Jon, who works as a correctional officer in Leavenworth, Wash.
