Gifts for Endowment

A Lasting Tribute

Endowments are truly gifts that keep giving. They provide a permanent and secure source of income for the university and can also honor a beloved individual.

An endowment is a fund invested for long-term growth. Only interest from the fund's principal is spent on the designated purpose; the principal itself is not spent.  The interest earnings may also be reverted back to the principal. The value of Walla Walla University's endowment funds total more than $12 million.

Endowments are typically established with a gift or gifts totaling $10,000 or more. A gift of any size may be given to an existing endowment. (See a list of current endowment funds.)

Most of the endowments established by alumni and friends provide for student aid and are established as a tribute to parents, friends, faculty, and others.

The university's general endowment provides unrestricted income, helping the school provide for the greatest needs.
